Ohh this is giving me so much inspiration - I'm definitely putting Orlando on my list! Thank you. I just finished In Tongues by Thomas Grattan and it was incredible. Currently reading My Brilliant Friend.

love this piece you have put out. it's inspiring me to choose my own 6 favorite reads so far this year! love that we also have so many reads in common! I read Giovanni's room at the start of the year and was absolutely blown away. I also read the book of goose and fell in love with the author's writing. I recently read Yiyun Li's latest book Things in Nature Merely Grow and it was absolutely phenomenal. It's a sort of memoir detailing the loss of her two sons Vincent and James. I'd highly recommend. Excited to keep following your content. (:

(also I am so stocked for your book!!!!)

I was inspired by one of your videos to seek out more translated works, and I Who Have Never Known Men was my first pick and it was astounding. So excited for more!

So well written. Your descriptions of the books and your reaction to them are wonderful. Being an 82 year old man, I wouldn't react to them the way you do, but your description of "The Wall" may send me to the bookstore or library.

Thank you, John! I would be so interested in hearing your perspective on all of these books, particularly The Wall. I’m certain I’ll revisit it again and again as I get older.
